“The water quality in the ice baths, used by over 2500 athletes during the London 2012 Olympics was protected by SureClear. The tested water passed 64 tests a day (carried out by staff and representatives from Dept. of Health) with zero reported athlete infections. Thereafter, regular water testing was carried out by the Department of Health, of which passed 100%. “In 2016 we decided to look alternatives to our chlorine based disinfection protocols for legionella control as we were getting regular legionella failures on board a few of our vessels. After some thought, we chose SureClear stabilised Hydrogen Peroxide. The SureClear team and our maintenance team shock dosed a vessel, whilst in dry dock, which very successfully removed the pre-existing biofilm. Using SureClear gave us the advantage of extending the period of time that hydrogen peroxide remains active in the water in low concentrations all the way down our irrigation lines and capillary beds. The active ingredient, stabilised with ionic silver, worked extremely well in high concentrations as an irrigation system cleaner. Continuous dosing at low concentration doesn’t affect biological control. We didn’t notice any reduction of activity and effectiveness of Nemasys in our applications and we can see the improvement in root condition of our overwintered production already.

SureClear is easy to use due to it’s very low dose rate. This is the best FCR we have achieved in 12 months which is also reflected in the very dry litter we have seen. We have also seen our best ever EPEF when we have had that amount of mortalities. The SureClear and acid combination that we have used has had a dramatic, positive impact.

2.116 – Silver stabilised hydrogen peroxide

Silver stabilised hydrogen peroxide has a history of use in the control of legionella in water systems. A silver hydrogen peroxide solution is injected directly into the water system and if applied and maintained according to the manufacturers’ instructions, can be an effective means of control. As with any water treatment programme it should be validated to ensure it is effective in controlling legionella. Silver hydrogen peroxide should not be used in water systems supplying dialysis units.

…the most developed of the silver stabilised hydrogen peroxides now available has proved particularly effective against biofilms and biofouling in water systems. Independent testing shows it provides a very wide spectrum of biocidal activity against bacteria, viruses, spores, fungi, amoebae (such as amoeba acanthus which can act as host to Legionella bacteria) and algae.
